Why we choose pure materials
At KANSO, every piece begins with a simple principle: use only what is essential, and use it well. That’s why we work exclusively with 999 fine silver, 18ct white gold, 22ct gold, and ethically sourced stones.
-
999 Fine Silver
Most jewellery is made from sterling silver (92.5% silver, mixed with alloys). We choose 999 silver — pure, unalloyed, and unadulterated. It’s softer, more malleable, and carries a natural warmth that alloys can’t replicate. Its purity allows us to craft with traditional hand tools, creating jewellery that is closer to the earth and truer to the metal itself.
-
18ct White Gold
Our 18ct white gold is chosen for its balance of purity and strength. Containing 75% pure gold, it retains the warmth and integrity of the metal while offering greater durability for everyday wear.
We prefer natural white gold over rhodium plating — its gentle tone and quiet lustre feel truer to the material. Each piece is hand-finished to bring out its soft, understated sheen.
-
22ct Gold
Where we use yellow gold, we choose 22ct — rich in colour, beautifully weighty, and 91.6% pure. Its warmth and depth are unmistakable, holding a quiet glow that endures for generations.
For us, 22ct gold represents the essence of craft — refined but not altered, precious yet grounded.
-
Ethically Sourced Stones
When we use stones, we choose only those that are responsibly mined and fairly traded. We believe in respecting both people and planet, ensuring that every stone carries not only beauty but integrity. Each one is selected for its natural character — never overworked, always true to itself.
-
Hallmarking & Authenticity
Every KANSO piece made from silver or gold is individually hallmarked by an official UK Assay Office.
This hallmark certifies the purity, origin, and authenticity of the metal — a small detail with deep meaning.
Our 999 fine silver bears the mark of the highest silver standard — 99.9% pure.
Our 18ct and 22ct gold carry the same assurance of quality.
Hallmarking is more than a legal requirement; it’s part of our commitment to honesty and craftsmanship.
It ensures that every KANSO piece is exactly what it claims to be — pure, enduring, and true.

Our Philosophy
Purity is more than a material choice. It’s about honouring traditional craft, respecting natural resources, and offering jewellery that lasts for generations without compromise.
By working only with materials in their most authentic forms, we create pieces that feel honest, grounded, and enduring.
Behind The Brand
We use honest materials and traditional tools. 'The old fashioned way' may not be the most efficient but it offers superb quality control and immense job satisfaction. Knowing the each order is made by hand with intention - There's something really special in that.
Behind The Tools
Mum of two, my children and I spend our days combing the local beaches for seaglass and stones. Many ideas are dreamt up while wandering the local nature reserves and river tails, where there is an abundance of silence where moments to pause are of abundance.
